Good Fashioned Wallpaper

It's funny how the mere mention of "wallpaper" can trigger such different reactions in people. While some might cringe at the thought, others get excited. I know a few people who told me they had flashbacks of their grandma’s old musky living rooms when they tried to imagine wallpaper, but let me tell you, things have changed a lot since then, and so has wallpaper!

The truth is that wallpaper has never been a fast fad, although the style, print, and colours have evolved tremendously with time, today, wallpaper is seen as an important design element, not just used to create a feature wall, but to add texture, colour, pattern, and a bold statement in any space.

Here are some of my absolute favourite ways to use wallpaper.

Incorporating wallpaper in the design of your home (and remember wallpaper is also great for commercial projects too!) can evoke specific moods or emotions. Bold, colourful patterns can create a sense of energy and excitement in a room. Muted, calming patterns create a serene and relaxing atmosphere.

Wallpaper can help create a sense of warmth and coziness in a room. Patterns with organic, natural elements like flowers or leaves can be particularly effective in creating a soothing and calming environment. If you want to add warmth and texture to any room, consider using grass cloth wallpaper. It's a classic and sophisticated choice that can work with any style of home, be it traditional, or modern or contemporary.

Wallpaper can be used to add depth and dimension to a space. One with a large-scale pattern creates the illusion of texture and movement in a room, and adding metallic wallpapers can add an extra layer of visual interest. A great way to make a bold statement is to try continuing the same wallpaper from the wall to the ceiling. You’ll get a cohesive and dramatic look in any room and this will really give an architectural interest to a space.

One of the best things about using wallpaper is that it can serve as a statement piece all on its own. In fact, it can take the place of traditional artwork in your room. You can apply wood mouldings to create a frame and add the wallpaper inside of it. There's a wallpaper design out there for everyone. No matter what your personal style is, you can find something that suits your taste. So don't be afraid to try something new and jazz up your space with a fun and unique wallpaper design.
